# Try it: a live poll on a venue screen

Run a Sociana live poll across three surfaces at once: open it from the organiser's Trigger Live Polls list, vote on the attendee phone, and watch 47 sample colleagues push the bars on a 16:9 venue screen. Hide the poll with Visible OFF and the phone falls back to “Stay tuned!”. Sample data, entirely in your browser.

Sample dataRuns in your browser with made-up data. Nothing you tap leaves this page.

The crowd of 47 voters is sample with a seeded generator; votes are not stored · Handset, Stage and Control Room run on one device here; the real-phone handoff via QR is not wired yet · The Scan to vote QR on the Stage is an illustration and does not open a page

Accessibility: Options are a radio group of native buttons; Active and Visible are switches with state; results carry text percentages; changes are announced in a polite live region; bar animation stops under reduced motion.

## Step by step

1. **Open the poll from the Control Room.** In Trigger Live Polls, switch the first poll from Inactive to Active. Only one poll is open at a time.
2. **Vote on the Handset.** Tap Live Polls, pick an option (a tick marks it) and press Submit Vote; a +5 points toast references the leaderboard.
3. **Watch the Stage fill.** Crowd votes arrive in a burst, then taper; the venue screen shows bars, percentages, counts and a Scan to vote QR.
4. **Hide or close it.** Visible OFF returns the phone to “Stay tuned! You'll be notified when voting opens.”; Inactive closes voting and freezes the result.
5. **Create your own question.** \+ New poll: Question, Option 1, Option 2, + Add Option, Visible ON/OFF, Save. Delete asks for Yes, Delete.

## What happens on each screen

The demo opens on three panes that share one state: Priya's phone (the attendee Handset), the Stage (a dark 16:9 venue screen) and the Control Room (Ananya's organiser tools). The occasion is Horizon Summit 2026, a fictional two-day corporate meet in Goa with 48 attendees. Nothing is open yet, so the Stage says it is waiting for the organiser and Priya's Home shows only the Live Polls card with its line “Vote in real time and watch the results build instantly.” If she taps it now she sees the real empty state: “Stay tuned! You'll be notified when voting opens.”

In the Control Room the Trigger Live Polls list shows three polls, each with its vote count, an Active/Inactive switch and a Visible ON/OFF switch. Switching “Which session should we extend tomorrow?” to Active does three things at once: a green banner appears on Priya's Home, the question and four options render inside Live Polls, and the Stage title changes to the question with empty bars and a Scan to vote QR. Opening a poll closes any other open poll, the way a stage runs one question at a time.

Priya picks an option. It behaves like a radio group, so the tick moves if she changes her mind, and Submit Vote stays disabled until something is chosen. After she submits, her phone switches to results: one bar per option with the percentage written as text, her own option marked, and the total. A toast says +5 points and that the vote counts on the Leaderboard. Meanwhile the sample room starts voting. About a fifth of the remaining 47 votes land on each tick, so the bars move quickly at first and then settle, which is how a real room behaves when the question goes up on screen. The Stage shows counts next to each percentage and the running total in large type.

Back in the Control Room, switching Visible OFF on the open poll sends Priya's phone back to “Stay tuned!” even though voting continues for the record. Switching it to Inactive closes voting: the Stage shows “voting closed” and Priya sees the final bars with “Voting closed” under the total. The organiser can then add a question with + New poll (Question, Option 1, Option 2, + Add Option up to five, Visible ON/OFF, Save) and delete any poll; delete asks for Yes, Delete because it cannot be undone. Reset demo restores the fixture.

In a live occasion the same question is answered both inside the branded app and on a no-login web page opened from the QR on the venue screen, and both streams merge into one result. This demo simulates the crowd on one device; nothing is sent to a server.

## Questions people ask

Is this the real Sociana product?

It is a browser simulation built from the product's own labels and states: Trigger Live Polls, Active/Inactive, Visible ON/OFF, Submit Vote and the Stay tuned empty state. The 47 other voters are sample; in a live occasion they are real attendees on the app or on the no-login web page.

Do attendees need the app to vote?

No. A no-login live poll opens from the QR shown on the venue screen in any phone browser. People who already use the branded app answer there, and both streams count toward one result on the screen.

What is the difference between Inactive and Visible OFF?

Inactive closes voting. Visible OFF hides the poll from attendees while keeping it in the organiser list, which is how teams prepare questions before a session and reveal them on cue.

Can poll votes count toward the leaderboard?

Yes. Each vote can award participation points to the unified leaderboard, which is why the demo shows a +5 points toast after Submit Vote. Points per vote are set per occasion.
