# What is “Word cloud”?

A word cloud is a live visual built from short participant answers, in which frequently repeated words appear larger, usually shown on a venue screen as the room responds.

## Word cloud in detail

A word cloud is the quickest way to show a room what it thinks. The presenter asks one open question, such as describe our year in one word, participants type short answers in the app or on a web link, and the screen gradually fills with words sized by frequency. It works because the result is immediate, visual and made by the audience, and because it needs no preparation beyond the question.
