# Log in with an SMS or email OTP (WhatsApp OTP where enabled)

How to sign in to a Sociana occasion app with your mobile number or email and a one-time password, including the resend timer and first-time sign-up fields.

1. Open the app and tap Enter to Login on the Enter screen
2. Type your 10-digit mobile number without +91 or 0, or your email where the occasion uses email, and tap Send OTP
3. Type the code into the Enter OTP box
4. Tap Log In; first-timers also fill in Name and Surname and any profile fields the organiser asks for

## Good to know

- There is no password to create or remember. You sign in once per phone and the app takes you straight to Home next time.
- Organisers choose how the code travels: SMS, email or, where the organisation has set it up, WhatsApp. The screen shows the message “We sent a code to” followed by your number or email, so check that line first.
- Sign-up questions such as category (maximum two) appear only the first time. If you pick a third category the app shows **Limit reached**; untick one first.

## If something goes wrong

**Invalid Phone Number.** Count the digits. It must be exactly 10, with no spaces. The **Send OTP** button stays dull until the number is valid.

**No code arrived.** Wait for the resend timer (60 seconds, or 30 in some apps) to run out, then tap **Resend OTP** or **Try Again**. Check spam if the code goes to email. Travellers abroad should use email where the app offers it.

**You are offline!** A red banner means the phone has no internet. Turn on mobile data or Wi-Fi and the app carries on by itself.

## Questions

### Do I need a password?

No. Each login uses a fresh one-time password sent by SMS or email, or by WhatsApp where your organiser has set that up, so there is nothing to remember or reset. You sign in once per phone and the app takes you straight to Home next time. Passwords exist only in separate employee-code set-ups run by a company.

### Why was I asked for my category and name?

Those are first-time sign-up fields chosen by the organiser so other attendees can recognise you and so you land in the right group. Returning users only enter the code. Category allows a maximum of two choices, and a third shows “Limit reached” until you untick one.

### Can I use the same number on a new phone?

Yes. Install the app, enter the same number and request a new code. Your occasion data is tied to the number or email, not to the handset, so your profile, group and points are still there. Enter the number without +91 or 0, and wait for the resend timer if the code is slow.
