# Town hall engagement ideas beyond the Q&A mic

Town halls go quiet because people will not stand up at a mic. Give them their phones instead: anonymous questions they can upvote (with duplicates merged so the same worry is asked once), a leader in the Hot Seat for Two Truths & a Lie, and a mood wall that shows the room how it feels.

Written for planners and agencies choosing for a client: what to run, when, for how many. 7 games, each playable in your browser from this page.

## Order of play

Warm up with Would You Rather while people settle, open the anonymous Q&A queue at the start so questions build during the talks, run the Hot Seat between leaders, and close with the mood wall. Export the questions with votes as CSV for the follow-up mail.

## Questions people ask

Can town hall questions be truly anonymous?

Yes. The town hall version never shows names; the moderator approves each question before it appears.

Can leaders see the questions before they go up?

Yes. The moderator approves each question, fixes typos, merges duplicates and pins the one being answered; a speaker view shows the pinned question and the next three.
