Step challenge launch checklist
A 34-point launch checklist for a company step challenge, covering rules, health-data permissions, team formation, communication and the first-week support desk. The permission and sync checks are the ones most teams skip.
No sign-up needed.
Who it is for

How to use it
- Work from top to bottom over the two weeks before launch; keep the Week one block for the war room.
- Test the permission screens on one iPhone and two Android models before you announce anything.
- Draft the support replies for the three common problems: no steps, steps delayed and wrong team.
- Publish the rules before registration opens, not after.

Questions people ask
What breaks most often on day one?
Permissions. People deny access to the health service or have background sync restricted by battery settings. Prepare a screenshot guide for both phone types and test it with someone who has never used the feature.
How do we form teams?
Choose by function for pride, by mixed groups for networking or let people choose within a deadline. Fix team size, and keep a reserve list so late joiners are placed quickly.
What if a participant has no smartphone?
Offer an alternative such as minutes of activity logged by a manager or a company-supplied pedometer band, and state it in the rules. An inclusive rule protects the programme as well as the person.
