Wedding guest app content checklist

Everything a wedding guest app should contain before the invitation goes out: welcome note, functions, venues, dress codes, travel help, family contacts and the wish wall. Thirty-two lines in six groups, ordered so the first two groups can be finished in one evening.

  • 31 checks
  • About 4 hours over a week
  • Version 1.0

No sign-up needed.

Who it is for

  • Wedding planners filling a guest app before invitations go out
  • Families who want one place for every function and venue
  • Coordinators who answer repeated guest questions on WhatsApp

How to use it

  1. Start with the Welcome and Functions groups; guests open the app first for the schedule.
  2. Ask one family member to proofread names, spellings and dates, as errors there are noticed immediately.
  3. Add photos only after the content is stable, and review the app once as a guest from outside the family.
  4. Plan a notice on the morning of each function so the app is the place guests look.

Where it has been used

Derived from the content that guest apps for destination-style weddings needed repeatedly: functions, venues, dress codes and travel help.

Questions people ask

What do guests look for first?

The schedule with dress codes, then travel and stay details. Put those on the first screen and keep the welcome note short, so someone arriving at the airport finds what they need in two taps.

Should the app list every relative?

No. List the people guests may need to call, usually three or four family contacts with roles. A long family tree takes effort and gives guests little they can act on.

How do we handle guests who are not technical?

Send the same schedule as a WhatsApp message and a printed card at the venue. The app is better as an addition than as the only route, especially for older relatives.
