How we calculate
- Activation
baseline × (0.8 + 0.2 × WhatsApp share) × (1 + 0.02 × min(pre-event days, 10)) × 1.1 if branded, capped at 90%Baseline by occasion: association 71%, corporate 60%, government 50%, wedding 45%.
- Participation
activation × min(0.85, 0.35 + 0.40 + min(0.08, 0.01 × announcements))Polls, games, a leaderboard and the feed are on in any points economy; scheduled announcements add a little more.
- Engagement score
100 × (0.4 × activation + 0.6 × participation)Under 40 is an information app, 40–65 a participation app, over 65 an experience app.
- Points issued
participants × participation × days × actions per day × average pointsOnly people who take part earn points.
- Total cost
Participation & Rewards + reward set-up + prize budget + wallet liabilityWallet liability = points issued ÷ points per ₹1, and only when points can be redeemed.

Questions about this calculator
How many points should each action be worth?
Weight effort, not clicks: 2 for a like, 5 for a poll answer, 10 for session feedback, 15 for a QR checkpoint and 20 for a finished quiz. That averages about 9 points per action at a typical mix.
What is wallet liability?
If points can be redeemed in a reward store, every point issued is money you owe. Liability = points issued ÷ points per ₹1. Leaderboard-only points have no liability; only the prizes cost money.
What is a good engagement score?
Above 65 means most invited people activated and took part in several activities. Between 40 and 65 is a solid participation app. Below 40 the app is mostly used for information.
How do I stop a few people farming points?
Cap points per action per day, give QR checkpoints and quizzes the big numbers, and count only actions inside event windows. The leaderboard rules in Sociana support all three.
