Try it: a feed scoped to partners vs employees
Move one attendee between Partners, Employees and Speakers and watch her Home rebuild: different banner, tiles, live poll, Team Chat room and feed posts, with no app update. Take her out of every group and she sees “You are not the part of any group” with only Home and Profile. A tile-by-group matrix and self-join switch show how organisers set it up.

Accessibility: Group choice is a radio group of buttons; the matrix is a table whose checkboxes are labelled with tile and group; Home changes are announced with the list of visible tiles.
Step by step
- Start as an Employee. Priya's Home: the employees banner, tiles such as Town Hall Q&A, the employee poll and the #team-horizon chat room.
- Move her to Partners. Control Room: pick Partners; Awards and MY STAY appear, Town Hall Q&A disappears, the poll and chat room change.
- Open the Feed. Posts are scoped too: everyone sees the welcome note; only Partners see the awards shortlist.
- Edit the tile matrix. Tick or untick a tile for a group; the phone updates the moment the box changes.
- Remove her from every group. “You are not the part of any group” with Home and Profile only; with self-join on, she can join Employees herself.
What happens on each screen
This demo is about one principle behind Sociana: content is designed group-first. On the left is Priya's phone; on the right, the organiser's Groups panel for Horizon Summit 2026, which has three groups, Partners, Employees and Speakers.
Priya starts in Employees. Her Home shows a banner for the team offsite, a tile grid with Show Flow, Live Polls, Team Chat, Town Hall Q&A and Leaderboard, a card with the employees' live poll (“Which town-hall topic should go first?”) and a Team Chat card naming her room, #team-horizon. The bottom menu has Home, Feed and Profile. The Feed tab lists the posts her group can see, each labelled with its audience: the organisers' welcome to everyone, the HR team's note about Town Hall Q&A for Employees, and the gala dress code for Partners and Employees.
In the Control Room, choosing Partners for Priya rebuilds the phone at once. The banner thanks partners for a record year. Awards and MY STAY appear, Town Hall Q&A goes, the poll becomes “Which scheme should we extend next quarter?” and the chat room becomes #partners-lounge. The feed swaps the HR note for the channel team's awards shortlist. Choosing Speakers gives a green-room banner, the Speaker Desk tile, a question about clickers and lapel mics, #speakers-green-room and the stage manager's tech-check post. A counter records how many times her group has changed; the organiser never touched the app build.
The tile matrix lists eight tiles against the three groups with a checkbox in each cell. Unticking Live Polls for Partners removes both the tile and the poll card for anyone in Partners; ticking Awards for Employees adds it to their Home. Each change applies immediately.
Choosing Not in any group shows the exact message from the app, “You are not the part of any group”, with the advice to contact the helpdesk, and the bottom menu shrinks to Home and Profile, which is what guests outside a group see. Switching on Self-join: Employees adds a Join Employees button to that screen, so people can place themselves in an open group without waiting for the helpdesk. Reset demo returns Priya to Employees with the default matrix.
Questions people ask
What can be scoped to a group?
Home tiles and banners, polls, chat rooms, feed posts, notifications and agenda tracks. Organisers decide per item which groups see it, so one app can serve partners, employees and speakers differently.
Can someone be in more than one group?
Yes. A member can belong to several groups and sees the union of what those groups can see. The demo moves one person between single groups to make the change easy to follow.
What does an attendee see before being assigned to a group?
The message “You are not the part of any group” with only Home and Profile available, plus a helpdesk contact. Where self-join is enabled, they can join an open group themselves.
Does changing a group need a new app release?
No. Group membership and visibility are data, so a change in the admin panel shows on the attendee's phone on the next refresh.
Seen enough to try it?
We will load a demo with your agenda and your groups, so your team can test it on their own phones.
