What is “Competition”?

A competition is a registration-based activity in which members sign up, subject to group eligibility and capacity limits, and may withdraw under the organiser's rules.

Also called: registered competition, sign-up contest

Competition in detail

Not every contest is open to all. Some activities have limited places, particular eligibility or a need to know in advance who is playing: a quiz final, a sports slot, a talent-night entry. Sociana's competition module handles exactly this with registration. The organiser sets which groups may register, how many places exist and whether participants can withdraw and until when. Members register in the app, the capacity counter updates, and waiting or rejection behaviour follows the rules. The result is a roster the organiser can trust, available for exports and for scheduling. Competitions are distinct from contests inside tournaments, which accept submissions over time; a competition is closer to an entry list for a bounded activity. They can award points through the normal scoring rules and appear on the agenda like any other item. For wedding sports, offsite tournaments and talent shows, registration prevents the familiar last-minute scramble for names.

How Sociana uses it

Competition registration carries group eligibility, capacity and withdrawal settings in the admin panel. Registrants show in exports and can feed attendance and scoring.

Example

A cultural offsite used limited-place registrations so team games had confirmed rosters before the day.
