- Open Groups and create each cohort
- Add members by CSV import or let them join where self-join is on
- Open the module, such as polls, chat or notifications, and choose its group scope
- Test with one member from each group before you announce the app
Good to know
- A member with no group sees only Home and Profile until mapped, which is the safe default.
- Every module takes its own group setting, so a poll scoped to Partners does not scope chat.
- Notifications offer Send To All and Select Group side by side.
If something goes wrong
You are not the part of any group. Map the member into a group. The helpdesk or secretariat can do this.
A poll reached the wrong people. Open the poll and check its group scope.
A cohort is missing from Select Group. Create the group first; it appears in the list once it exists.
Questions
Can a person belong to two groups?
Yes, where you map them to both. Each module takes its own group setting, so a poll scoped to Partners does not scope chat. A member with no group sees only Home and Profile until mapped, which is the safe default. Test with one member from each group before you announce the app.
Can guests choose their own group?
Yes, if you switch on self-join groups. Otherwise add members by CSV import with a group column. Notifications offer Send To All and Select Group side by side, and a cohort appears in Select Group once it exists. If a poll reached the wrong people, open it and check its group scope.
