Sociana + Google Play

Sociana publishes branded Android apps to Google Play as part of managed delivery. Listing, testing tracks and review are in the project timeline. Google decides approval and timing, and there is no instant publish. Guests who cannot install can use public web flows, WhatsApp and QR entry instead.

What it does inside Sociana

Android distribution needs an app name, icon, listing, a data safety form and a signed build. Closed or internal testing tracks let a group test before launch. Standard packages keep the app on both stores for a year. As with iOS, a multi-occasion container reduces repeated submissions for agencies.

What the organiser configures

  • App name, icon and listing
  • Data safety answers
  • Internal or closed testers
  • Developer account owner
  • Which occasions the app exposes

Data protection (DPDP)

The organiser is the Data Fiduciary and Sociana acts as processor. Ask us for the hosting region and retention period that apply to your occasion; the sub-processor list is on the Sub-processors and integrations page. We do not state a region or retention period on this page.

Security notes

  • The data safety form must reflect what the app collects; it is prepared per app.
  • Signing keys are held by the delivery team; ask us how.

Set-up checklist

  1. Agree a branded app or a multi-occasion container.
  2. Prepare listing text and data safety answers.
  3. Run an internal test track build early.
  4. Submit with a buffer for review.
  5. Plan staged rollout and an update path.

Limits, stated plainly

Questions people ask

Do we need a Google Play developer account?

Not necessarily; Sociana's parent publishes by default. A client-owned account is possible and should be agreed in the proposal.

Can Android users join without the Play Store?

Public web flows, QR entry and WhatsApp messaging can serve guests who do not install, though the in-app experience is richer.

How long does Play review take?

Google sets it and it is not guaranteed. Build the buffer into the plan and ask for the submission date.
