Word cloud in detail
A word cloud is the quickest way to show a room what it thinks. The presenter asks one open question, such as describe our year in one word, participants type short answers in the app or on a web link, and the screen gradually fills with words sized by frequency. It works because the result is immediate, visual and made by the audience, and because it needs no preparation beyond the question. Sociana provides it alongside polls and quizzes, running on the same engine and shown on venue screens. Good practice is to cap answer length, ask a question with a one-word answer and consider moderating or filtering terms before projection, since open text invites jokes. At townhalls and annual meets it is a useful opener or closer. Capture the output afterwards for the report, and treat it as qualitative colour rather than a statistic; a cloud is not a representative survey.
How Sociana uses it
Word clouds are part of the polls and feedback cluster, with a venue-screen view fed live by app and web answers, and the organiser can moderate words before display.
Example
A supplier meet used a word cloud to gather impressions from delegates on stage.
