Sociana + Apple App Store

Sociana publishes branded apps to the Apple App Store as part of managed delivery. Store review, listings and TestFlight testing sit in the project timeline, so there is no instant publish. Multi-occasion apps reduce repeated submissions. Apple decides approval and its timing, and Sociana cannot promise either.

Live

What it does inside Sociana

Branded apps need an icon, name, screenshots and a store listing; the delivery model includes store submission, and apps stay live on both stores for a year in standard packages. Apple's review can reject or delay a submission, and TestFlight is the usual way to put a pre-release build in testers' hands. A multi-occasion container such as the Occasion Xperts and Nirvaan model lets an agency reuse one app across clients. Public listings today sit under the Alien Brains developer name.

What the organiser configures

  • App name, icon and splash theme
  • Store listing text, screenshots and privacy answers
  • Testers for TestFlight
  • Whether the app lives under Sociana's or the client's developer account
  • Which occasions the app exposes

Data protection (DPDP)

The organiser is the Data Fiduciary and Sociana acts as processor. Ask us for the hosting region and retention period that apply to your occasion; the sub-processor list is on the Sub-processors and integrations page. We do not state a region or retention period on this page.

Security notes

  • Apple's privacy labels must match what the app collects; the list is prepared per app.
  • Store accounts and signing keys are held by the delivery team; ask us how.

Set-up checklist

  1. Decide a branded app or a multi-occasion container.
  2. Prepare name, icon and listing text.
  3. Submit a TestFlight build early and invite a tester group.
  4. Submit for review with a buffer for rejections.
  5. Plan an update path for late content changes.

Limits, stated plainly

  • No instant publish; review takes days and can fail.
  • The developer account owner is Alien Brains unless agreed otherwise.
  • App Store policy changes can alter requirements.
  • Web-based flows exist for guests who do not install the app.

Not offered yet

Questions people ask

How long does store approval take?

Review time is set by Apple and is not guaranteed. Plan a buffer, put a TestFlight build in testers' hands early, and ask us for the submission date in the proposal.

Can guests use the event without installing?

Public web flows, QR entry and WhatsApp messaging can serve guests who do not install an app, as in the JITO gala. The app experience is richer but not required for entry.

Whose developer account publishes the app?

By default Sociana's parent, Alien Brains, publishes under its developer account. A client-owned account is possible and should be agreed in the proposal.
