Sociana + Google Health Connect
Sociana step challenges read daily steps from Health Connect on Android after the participant grants permission. Steps feed leaderboards, goals, caps and team targets. Fitbit, Garmin and Strava are not connected directly; a wearable counts only if its own app writes into Health Connect.

What it does inside Sociana
On Android the participant opens Count Your Steps, allows access to Health Connect and taps Sync Steps once the Challenge starts. Android guides also mention Google Fit. Sociana then shows the same views as on iPhone: today, total, average, best-day, hourly, journey progress and weekly pace in programme apps such as the HSBC Wellness Expedition. Consistency, improvement and variance reports supported the Road to Phuket exports.

Data protection (DPDP)
The organiser is the Data Fiduciary and Sociana acts as processor. Ask us for the hosting region and retention period that apply to your occasion; the sub-processor list is on the Sub-processors and integrations page. We do not state a region or retention period on this page.
Security notes
- Step data is health-adjacent personal data. Ask us for the DPDP treatment.
- Participants can withdraw permission in system settings.
Set-up checklist
- Check participants run an Android version that supports Health Connect.
- Share the permission steps with a screenshot guide.
- Trial with a small group before launch.
- Agree the rules on manual entries and unusual days.
- Export reports at set intervals and at close.
Limits, stated plainly
- Android only; iPhone uses Apple Health.
- Direct Fitbit, Garmin and Strava sync is not offered.

Is Google Fit supported?
Android guides mention Health Connect and Google Fit. Google Fit has been retiring in favour of Health Connect, so we describe Health Connect as the route and confirm the current setup per programme.
Which wearables work?
Any wearable whose own app writes steps into Health Connect will show up. Sociana does not connect to Fitbit or Garmin directly.
How are teams ranked?
Team targets and boosts let departments compete, and reports show consistency, improvement and variance. The organiser sets the rules at configuration time.
