What is “Check-in kiosk”?

A check-in kiosk is a staffed or unstaffed terminal at a venue where arriving participants check in or scan in; Sociana uses QR scan and self check-in, not kiosk hardware.

Also called: self-service check-in station, registration kiosk

Check-in kiosk in detail

Kiosks are a familiar sight at large trade events: tablets or touchscreens where visitors scan a ticket and sometimes print a badge. Many event platforms sell them as hardware bundles. Sociana does not supply kiosk hardware or on-site printing. Its check-in methods are the participant's QR entry pass scanned by organiser staff on a phone, manual add by staff, and self check-in using a venue QR. For most Indian occasions this is enough and cheaper to run, because volunteers scan with phones already in hand. Where an organiser wants a kiosk experience, a common approach is to place a tablet running the organiser scanner at a desk, with staff or a simple stand, and to bring a printing partner if lanyards are required. Plan for throughput: the number of scan lanes should match peak arrivals per minute, and a manual fallback list should exist for connectivity gaps.

How Sociana uses it

Example
