What is “Session feedback”?

Session feedback is a short rating form tied to one agenda item and shown at or near the session's end, capturing how participants found that specific session.

Also called: session rating, talk feedback

Session feedback in detail

Feedback gathered a week later is a memory of a memory; feedback gathered at the session's end is data. Session feedback attaches a short form to a single agenda item, typically a rating and one open comment, and prompts participants near the time the session finishes. Responses roll up by session, speaker and group, giving organisers a ranked view of the programme while it is still running. Points can reward completion, which lifts response rates without influencing the rating itself. Design matters: keep it to two or three questions, use consistent scales and ask the same questions across sessions so they can be compared. Group scoping allows separate forms for different audiences. Session feedback is one of the participation signals Sociana reports, and its response rate should always be given with its denominator, the people eligible to respond. It does not replace an occasion-level survey; the two answer different questions.

How Sociana uses it

Session feedback is configured per agenda item in the feedback module, with points optional and results available in reports and exports.

Example

An executive conclave collected session feedback during the programme.

Should I report the response rate?
