What is “AGM”?

An AGM, or annual general meeting, is the yearly meeting at which a company's or association's members review accounts, elect office-bearers and vote on resolutions, under statutory timelines.

Also called: annual general meeting, annual general body meeting

AGM in detail

For Indian companies the Companies Act 2013 requires an AGM within six months of the financial-year end, which pushes AGM season into August and September, with 30 September a familiar deadline. Associations hold their own versions, often alongside an annual convention. The event brings quorum, attendance records and votes into focus. Sociana supports the event-side needs: attendance logs with scanner, time and attempts, exportable by the secretariat; registration against the member list; and live voting or polls where the rules permit. It does not replace statutory voting systems or e-voting providers, and a legal vote should still follow the organisation's own procedure and counsel. The advantage is continuity. A body that uses one multi-occasion app for the annual conference, chapter meets and the AGM keeps member history in one place, so attendance across the year can be seen without stitching spreadsheets. Check requirements for proxies and notice periods separately; those are legal questions the platform does not decide.

How Sociana uses it

For AGMs Sociana provides member-list registration, QR attendance logs and exports, and polls or voting where permitted. It does not provide statutory e-voting.

Example

An association secretariat ran its conference and chapter meets as occasions in one app, giving it attendance history to draw on at the AGM.
