Download control in detail
Photos taken at a closed conclave or a private wedding do not belong on the open web, but organisers still want guests to enjoy them. Download control reconciles the two. As a rule in the gallery and timeline, it can allow saving for everyone, for selected groups or for no one, with viewing remaining possible. A partners meet might let guests download their own Smart Lens photos while preventing downloads of internal presentation images. A wedding might allow family to save and keep others to viewing only. The rule is a deterrent rather than a perfect lock, since a determined person can screenshot, and communications should say so. Pair it with moderation and with revocable public links for anything shared outside the app. Decide the policy before photographers upload, and document it in the consent wording, particularly where facial matching is used. Review it after the occasion, as retention rules may change what remains available.
How Sociana uses it
Download control is set per occasion, album or group in the media rules, alongside moderation and public post links, and applies to members and groups separately.
Example
A partners meet allowed guests to save their own matched photos while limiting other media.
