What is “Smart Lens”?

Smart Lens is Sociana's facial-recognition photo finder: after an opt-in selfie, a participant sees the official event photos they appear in, collected in one place.

Also called: facial-recognition photo finder, find my photos

Smart Lens in detail

Event photography produces thousands of images and nobody can scroll through all of them. Smart Lens solves the finding problem. A participant opts in by submitting a selfie; the system matches their face against the organiser's gallery and returns the photos they appear in, which they can view and, if the download rules allow, save. The consent step is essential and should be explained in plain words, with retention and deletion handled in line with the occasion's data-handling policy. Smart Lens works inside the event app on photos the organiser has uploaded; Sociana does not position itself as a photographer platform with camera-to-cloud upload, culling or selling. That clarity keeps expectations right: the value is the participant experience of finding themselves after a busy two days. Quality depends on the image set, so organisers should brief photographers on getting faces in frame and upload promptly. Demonstrations should state clearly when face matching is shown for illustration only.

How Sociana uses it

Smart Lens sits in the media cluster beside gallery albums and download controls. Organisers upload photos, participants opt in with a selfie, and download rules govern saving.

Example

A partners meet offered a Smart Lens gallery so partners could find their own photos from the awards evening.
