What is “Reel”?

A reel is a short vertical video posted to an occasion's timeline, which participants can like and comment on and organisers can feature as highlights.

Also called: short video, vertical video post

Reel in detail

Short video is how people now remember events, so Sociana's timeline supports it as a reel: a brief vertical clip posted by a participant or organiser, appearing in the feed with likes, reactions and comments like other posts. Organisers can feature selected reels for the highlights, and moderation rules decide whether posts go live immediately or wait in an approval queue. Group-aware feed rules allow reels to be visible to everyone or limited to a group, which is useful when a partner celebration should not appear in an employee feed. Reels connect to other modules: a reel can carry a hashtag collected by the social wall, and a good one can be shared through a revocable public post link. For production-led events with a cinematic theme, reels are the natural outlet for behind-the-scenes content. Brief participants on length and format, set download rules deliberately, and keep one editor responsible for highlights during the occasion.

How Sociana uses it

Reels are timeline posts governed by feed rules, moderation, download controls and group scoping. A post carries up to five photos or one video.

Example

A cinematic-themed partners meet used reels as a core part of its timeline.
