What is “Liaison officer”?

A liaison officer, or LO, is a staff member assigned to a delegate or delegation as their personal point of contact for travel, stay and protocol, whose details appear in the delegate's app.

Also called: LO, delegate liaison

Liaison officer in detail

Indian government, defence and association events lean on the liaison officer. The LO meets the delegate, knows the room and the cab, and is the person to call when anything goes wrong. Sociana gives this role a home in the app: a delegate's page can display their assigned liaison officer's name and phone beside the cab details, and the hospitality team can manage assignments from the operations workspace. The effect is practical. A delegate arriving at an unfamiliar airport does not search for an organiser's number; it is already in the app, linked to their own arrangements. For protocol-heavy events the LO's information can sit beside dignitary and VIP handling, and for large delegations a single LO may cover many members. The organiser should brief LOs on the app's views in advance, rehearse escalation paths and keep a printed fallback list, since connectivity in remote venues cannot be assumed.

How Sociana uses it

LO details are published with cab and arrival information in the hospitality module and surface in the delegate's journey. Help-desk requests give a second route for escalation.

Example

The Indian Coast Guard's SAREX-26 maritime search-and-rescue workshop showed delegates their cab, hotel and liaison details inside the app.
