PCO in detail
PCOs run the heavy machinery of conferences for associations, scientific societies and government bodies: delegate registration, abstracts and programme, sponsorship and exhibition sales, venue and finance. They are frequently the real buyer behind a conference app, and a secretariat will often say 'ask our PCO' when a vendor calls. Sociana fits beside a PCO as the delegate-facing layer: registration against the delegate list, ID and PIN or OTP login, agenda, speaker and dignitary profiles, sponsor placements, room-slot booking and feedback. It does not handle abstract or paper management or CPD credits, so treat both as out of scope and keep them in the PCO's own system. Government workshops sometimes buy through the PCO's tender, so bundling the app as a deliverable inside the event-management contract avoids a separate software budget line. Ask the PCO who holds the registration data, which payment gateway applies and how late changes reach delegates; those answers shape the configuration far more than the theme does.
