Room block in detail
Room blocks are contracts between organisers and hotels. The organiser negotiates a number of rooms for given nights, with an attrition clause and a release date, and then allocates guests within that block. The commercial and inventory side stays with the hotel and the organiser's travel partner. Sociana's role is downstream: it captures guest preferences and travel details, receives the allocation by import, and publishes each guest's room information in the app. That boundary is deliberate and part of how Sociana describes itself: Sociana is not a hotel inventory or booking system. For planners, the useful practice is to connect the block's release dates to the hospitality completeness plan. If completeness for a group is low as the cut-off nears, the organiser can chase the gaps or release rooms in time. After the event, the exported allocation and actual stays support reconciliation with the hotel's invoice.
How Sociana uses it
Block management happens outside Sociana. Allocations are imported and published through the hospitality module, and exports support reconciliation.
Example
A destination conclave spread delegates across two hotels, publishing each delegate's allocation from imported data.
