Sociana + Firebase push notifications
Sociana sends push notifications and in-app notices to installed apps, including scheduled announcements to a chosen group. The Sociana stack uses Firebase and Firestore, which is the likely push route, though the exact configuration differs per app. Push needs the app installed and permission granted.

What it does inside Sociana
An organiser writes an announcement, picks a group and schedules it. Members with the app installed see it as a push on their phone and in the Updates tab; Nirvaan, a multi-occasion app, sends updates both ways so a member need not open every occasion. Firebase and Firestore are part of the stack. Messages to people without the app go by WhatsApp, SMS or email.

Data protection (DPDP)
The organiser is the Data Fiduciary and Sociana acts as processor. Ask us for the hosting region and retention period that apply to your occasion; the sub-processor list is on the Sub-processors and integrations page. We do not state a region or retention period on this page.
Security notes
- Device tokens identify a handset; treat them as personal data. Retention is available on request.
- The push provider will appear on the sub-processor list.
Set-up checklist
- Decide which updates deserve a push and which belong in the feed.
- Create groups before the first announcement.
- Schedule the announcement and send a test to the organiser group.
- Ask guests to allow notifications at first open.
- Send critical changes over a second channel such as WhatsApp.
Limits, stated plainly
- Push depends on app install, permission, OS settings and battery saving; it is not a guaranteed channel.
- Guests without the app are not reached.
- Firebase configuration is set per app.

Questions people ask
Do guests need the app for push?
Yes. Push reaches installed apps whose users allowed notifications. For everyone else use WhatsApp, SMS or email, and keep the announcement in the in-app feed as a record.
Can we target a subset?
Yes. Announcements can be scheduled by group, such as the bride's side or a delegate category, and the same group rules scope the feed and chat.
Is Firebase the only technology?
Firebase and Firestore are listed in the stack. We do not break down every service per app on this page, so we state the per-app configuration on request rather than on this page.
