Unique accepted attendance in detail
Scans are easy to count and easy to misread. A turnstile that beeps four hundred times does not mean four hundred people attended. Unique accepted attendance is Sociana's stricter figure: distinct people whose check-in at a given activity passed all rules, which excludes rejected attempts, duplicate scans by the same person and scans by those not eligible. The denominator, when a rate is wanted, is the eligible population for that activity. Because the system keeps attempts, scanner and time, the organiser can reconcile the two figures and explain the gap, which often reveals queue problems or shared passes. It is the right number for meal counts, sponsor reports, certificate eligibility and attendance-based points. Reporting should always name the activity, date and rule set. A frequent mistake is to sum attendance across activities as if each were a separate person; the metric is per activity, and a rollup across a day needs a stated method.
How Sociana uses it
Computed per activity from accepted check-ins. Scan attempts are kept separately, and both appear in exports so the organiser can explain differences.
Example
A workshop counted unique accepted attendance per activity rather than total scans.
