What is “Run of show”?

A run of show is the minute-by-minute schedule of an event, listing every cue, speaker, screen and handover so the production team and stage manager work from one script.

Also called: ROS, run of show document

Run of show in detail

The run of show is the production document. It lists every cue: when the lights drop, who walks on, which video plays, when the poll opens. It is distinct from the delegate-facing agenda, which shows only what attendees need. In Sociana the two connect. The organiser's team keeps the detailed script, while the app's agenda, called Show Flow where the theme warrants it, publishes the attendee view with Live and Up Next badges. Operational triggers, such as launching a poll or an announcement at a set moment, can be scheduled so the cue is not left to memory. Treat the run of show as a living document: when something slips, the agenda in the app should update before delegates ask. A dealer-meet run-of-show template can speed planning. The point is rehearsal; run the poll switches and screen changes once before doors open so nobody discovers a mistake in front of 800 people.

How Sociana uses it

Sociana does not replace the production script. It publishes the attendee-facing agenda and schedules polls, notices and triggers that the run of show calls for.

Example

A partners meet relabelled its agenda as Show Flow with day tabs and Live and Up Next badges, matching its film theme.
