Smart Lens and face matching

Smart Lens is Sociana’s facial-recognition photo finder: a guest takes a selfie and the app finds the event photos they appear in. It is off unless the organiser switches it on for that event, and it only runs for guests who choose to use it.

How it works

  1. The organiser switches Smart Lens on for the event.
  2. A guest chooses to use it and takes a selfie.
  3. The app compares that face with the event’s gallery and shows the matches to that guest only.

Limits we keep

  • Face matching finds photos and nothing else. It is not used for attendance, security or identification.
  • Guests who do not use Smart Lens still have the full gallery and albums.
  • Matches are shown only to the guest who asked.

FAQ

Common questions

Is Smart Lens on by default?

No. Smart Lens is off unless the organiser switches it on for a specific event. When it is off, no face matching happens on that event’s photos.

Can a guest use the gallery without face matching?

Yes. The gallery and albums work without Smart Lens. Face matching is only a faster way to find the photos you appear in, and it runs only for guests who choose to take a selfie.

What does Smart Lens cost?

It is an add-on priced per user with a minimum per event; see the add-ons on the pricing page.
