Conference networking ideas that people actually use

Networking works when people have a reason to walk up to someone specific. Give them one: an AI matchmaker that suggests three people worth meeting with a reason and an icebreaker each, an alter-ego card that tells them who their opposite is, and booth stamps that send them round the floor.

Written for planners and agencies choosing for a client: what to run, when, for how many. 5 games, each playable in your browser from this page.

The picks, ranked

When to open the matchmaker

Open it at registration and remind people at the first coffee break; matches are best when most of the room has answered. The big screen shows only anonymised numbers, a topic cloud and a “just connected” ticker.

Questions people ask

Is the AI matchmaker private?

Yes. The AI sees role, company and answers, never names or contact details, and guests can hide a match or delete their profile at any time.

What does the organiser get from networking?

Live counts and a CSV of mutual connections with consent times, without anyone’s contact details: proof that people met, without turning guests into leads.

Does it work at an expo?

Yes. The buyer–seller version asks what visitors are sourcing and what exhibitors sell, and suggests the three most useful booths and buyers to meet.
